CHARLOTTETOWN (P.E.I.) – Jean McCormack of Souris, P.E.I. heard the news of a $500,000 Maxmillions prize being won in King’s County from a friend. However, she didn’t think much of it until she decided to check the winning numbers later that day.
“I was home, just myself and my cat, and I checked the numbers,” McCormack said. “I just started roaring, ‘It’s me, it’s me.’”
Once McCormack realized she was the winner of the $500,000 prize from the Oct. 14 Lotto Max draw, she immediately called her friend to share the news.
“I called her back afterwards and told her, ‘It’s me, me, me!’”
Maxmillions are additional $1-million prizes that are drawn when the Lotto Max jackpot reaches $50 million. This Maxmillions prize was shared with a ticket sold in British Columbia with same numbers. Each player took home $500,000.
McCormack does seasonal work, which she intends to return to in the spring. Until then, thanks to her big win she has lots to keep her busy, including home renovations and travel. McCormack said the first trip on her list will be to British Columbia to visit her daughter.
“I’m just extremely excited,” McCormack said. “I didn’t believe it at first, but now I do.”
Tomorrow’s October 28 Lotto Max jackpot is worth an estimated $55 million dollars plus an estimated 4 Maxmillions.
McCormack purchased her winning Lotto Max ticket at the Souris Quick-Stop in Souris, P.E.I. The retailer will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
