ST. JOHN’S (N.L.) – After Michelle Glover of Gambo, N.L. purchased an Atlantic Lottery Combo #5 back in September, she put the tickets in her purse and forgot about them for over a month, not knowing she had won the $500,000 second prize on the Sept. 19 Daily Grand draw.
“I bought it and forgot about it. I don’t know what made me check them finally,” Glover said. “For a month I was walking around with half a million dollars in my purse and didn’t even know it.”
Combo #5 includes Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49 and Daily Grand tickets, plus TAG, Twist and Atlantic 49 plays, for the next two draws. Daily Grand is a national draw game that offers two options for the second prize. Winners can choose to receive $25,000 a year for life or a lump sum of $500,000. Glover opted to receive the lump sum payment.
“It’s hard to explain - feels like you’re going to wake up any minute,” Glover said. “It’s quite a different feeling, I guess you’d have to win that amount of money to know it, but it’s pretty great.”
Glover said the prize money will come in handy to help with home renovations that she has been working on piece by piece, allowing her to get them finished more quickly. While she had already planned a vacation to Disneyland with her son, she will now be able to ensure it is even more memorable.
She said she still isn’t completely sure, but will likely purchase a new truck as well.
“It’s great to be 42 and have no bills – that’s the big thing with the cost of living now,” Glover said. “Knowing I won’t always have to work so hard, just having that bit of extra really helps.”
Glover purchased her winning Daily Grand ticket at Glovertown Convenience in Glovertown, NL.
