MONCTON (N.B.) – After Kim Campbell of Fredericton, N.B. played five Set for Life Scratch’N Win tickets she had purchased on her way to work recently, she thought the most she had won was $4. That was until she got out her phone and scanned the tickets using the Atlantic Lottery mobile ticket checker.

“I always check my tickets that way to get the 2Chance entries, so I scanned the first ticket and it said, ‘Major winner, see retailer,’” Campbell said. “I was like, ‘What?’ So I looked my ticket over and saw that I forgot to scratch one box on the game.”

When Campbell scratched the final game on her ticket, she saw three Set for Life symbols staring back at her, meaning she had won the game’s top prize.

“I just started shaking, it was extremely overwhelming,” Campbell said. “It truly hasn’t sunk in yet at all, I’ve just been walking around in a daze. It’s so exciting.”

Atlantic Lottery’s Set for Life is a $4 Scratch’N Win ticket that offers two options for the top prize. Winners can choose to receive $1,000 a week for 25 years, or a lump sum payment of $675,000. Campbell opted to receive the lump sum payment.

Plans for her winnings include helping her family, purchasing a new car and planning a family vacation. Campbell’s priority is to save most of her money for the future, so she can retire in her early 60s. Thanks to her big win, she has decided to reduce her work schedule to four days a week instead of five.

“I’m so fortunate,” Campbell said. “My son and his girlfriend are expecting a baby in July so it’s just really good timing.”

Campbell has always been a casual lottery player, often going weeks without purchasing any tickets at all. While she has enjoyed playing from time to time, she said she has no plans to continue after her big win and wants others to have the same opportunity.

Campbell purchased her winning Set for Life ticket at Sam’s Ultramar in Fredericton N.B. The seller will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
