MONCTON (N.B.) – Gisele Pollock of Lakeville, N.B. is $1,172,773 richer after winning the progressive jackpot on Powerbucks Wheel of Fortune Shimmering Sapphires, a Casino game offered on alc.ca.

“I stamped my feet pretty well all day because I was so excited, vibrating from the whole experience,” Pollock said. “It’s an awesome feeling.”

Every bet on Powerbucks Wheel of Fortune Shimmering Sapphires is eligible to win one of two jackpots. Total bets less than $3 are eligible to win the Powerbucks Jackpot, while total bets of $3 or more are eligible for the Powerbucks Progressive of at least $1 million. 

Pollock won her $1.1-million progressive prize with just a $3 wager.

“I’m a simple girl, I like simple things, and I like to help my family out so that’s what I plan on doing,” Pollock said. “It’s a dream and I’ll be able to help so many people.” 

A long-time lottery player, Pollock made the switch to playing mostly online in recent years.

“It’s so convenient, I don’t have to go out to buy tickets, everything is right there on my phone,” Pollock said. “I have my choice of buying lottery tickets or playing Instant games.”

Pollock even took home a major prize worth $321,333 on one of those Instant Win games back in 2023.

In addition to helping her family, plans for her winnings include purchasing a new vehicle and taking her daughters and their husbands on a European river cruise. Pollock, who works in a call centre, enjoys her work and plans to continue doing it, although at reduced hours so she has more time to enjoy with family.

Pollock celebrated her win and got her big cheque at Atlantic Lottery’s head office in Moncton, N.B. last week surrounded by family. She even had her sister travel from Quebec City to be a part of the experience.
