MONCTON (N.B.) – Tilly van den Bosch of Fredericton, N.B. checked her weekly lottery tickets in the early morning hours when she couldn’t sleep, only to find out she had won $1,666,666 on the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot.

“It was the middle of the night, so I didn’t jump up, but it started to slowly sink in,” Van den Bosch said. “I woke up my husband and then neither of us could sleep for the next two nights.”

Lotto 6/49 draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday with two multi-million jackpots available to be won. The classic jackpot is always set at $5 million and the Gold Ball jackpot starts at $10 million and can grow past $60 million. The Gold Ball draw guarantees a winning ticket on every draw, with the winner taking home $1 million if a white ball is drawn or the growing Gold Ball jackpot when a gold ball is drawn. Van den Bosch shared the $5-million Classic Jackpot on the Oct. 8 draw with two other winners, both from Ontario, who had tickets with the same winning numbers. The three winners each took home $1,666,666.

“There’s always this thing in the back of your mind, ‘Do you have enough money to last if something was to happen?’” Van den Bosch said. “It impacts a lot. It benefits the rest of your family, which I am happy about because you want always the best for your children.”

Plans for her winnings include paying off debt, purchasing a new car for herself and her son, and travelling with her husband.

“It’s a new adventure,” Van den Bosch said. “I don’t think it’s going to change my life dramatically, but we can go on vacation now and that hasn’t happened for 10 years.”
