Provincial Helplines

Each Atlantic province provides support, available 24/7 for people experiencing problems with their gambling activities through a free, confidential helpline.

New Brunswick Addiction Services provides information to problem gamblers, their families, and the community on problem gambling, recovery and self-assessment. They also offer information on the 1-800 helpline.

Newfoundland and Labrador - Health and Community Services: Addictions Services
In Newfoundland and Labrador, Addictions Services provides assessment, education and treatment services for clients with gambling problems as well as their family members.

Gambling Support Network (Nova Scotia)
The Gambling Support Network provides online and phone support for Nova Scotians and their families. Services are provided by trained professionals who help clients achieve their goals around their gambling habits. The services are free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Yourbestbet (Nova Scotia)
Yourbestbet is a responsible gambling website provided by the Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation ( provides information to help gamblers make informed decisions about their play. Yourbestbet also offers links to various community initiatives such as Gambling Support Network.

In-person counselling is available for Nova Scotians with gambling-related concerns through Health and Wellness' Addiction Services offices around the province.

Prince Edward Island 's Addiction Services provides assessment education and treatment services for clients with gambling problems.

Gamblers Anonymous
Gamblers Anonymous (GA) is an anonymous fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help themselves and others recover from gambling.

Gam-Anon is a 12-step self-help organization for those affected by the gambling problem of a loved one. No dues or fees are required.

Canadian Partnership for Responsible Gambling
The Canadian Partnership for Responsible Gambling provides information and resources to help prevent problem gambling.

Responsible Gambling Council
The Responsible Gambling Council works with individuals and communities to address gambling in a healthy and responsible way. The Council undertakes research and public awareness programs to prevent gambling-related problems.

GamTalk is an online forum for anyone who wants to discuss gambling issues. GamTalk also features ‘Stories of Hope’: personal stories from across Canada and the world that detail how problem gamblers beat their problem. Finding out that others have successfully dealt with a gambling problem can be the boost needed to begin the road to recovery.

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
An online community supported by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The site contains information about problem gambling for individuals concerned about their own, or someone else's gambling. It also provides an online space for professionals to exchange knowledge and resources.
